Heart & Vascular Institute: Hoag Hospital
Newport Beach, California
The Hoag Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) is one of the preeminent cardiovascular centers on the West Coast. To continue its high level of care, HVI planned a new three-story, 120,000 square-foot replacement expansion. However, with the unknowns of healthcare reform and the reality of a nationwide economic crisis, Hoag and its team of planners, including Taylor, looked for a more efficient solution, and established the viability of renovating an existing space on the Newport Beach campus while moving other hospital functions to their neighboring sister hospital in Irvine. The project’s goals included consolidating services in one unit to foster a high level of team collaboration, in the process creating a user-centered experience that welcomes patients, staff, and the community.
