Taylor Design Enhances Presence in Southern California Education, Science and Technology Market Sectors

Taylor Design is Growing
Irvine, CA (August 24, 2015) — Taylor Design is increasing its Southern California presence with the recent announcement that Philip G. Pipal, LEED AP, has joined the firm as Project Director in its Irvine office. Pipal will be instrumental in leading further expansion into education, science and technology markets for the firm, focusing on new business development and client service.

Long recognized for its design of healthcare facilities, Taylor Design has been extending its reach into education, science and technology with the addition of a number of highly-skilled specialists. Pipal brings 34 years of experience to his role having completed the design and delivery of laboratory, R&D facilities, and a wide variety of higher education facilities for institutions such as UCI, UCSD, SDSU, Claremont Graduate University and the Los Angeles Community College District, as well as corporations such as Amgen and Clarient.

“This is a great time to be in the market, as all of these industries continue to redefine how they serve their clients – whether its patients, students, doctors or scientists. It’s exciting to have a new team member with Philip’s tenure on board to accelerate our work in these areas as we look to help our clients meet changing demands and expectations,” said Randy Regier, president, Taylor Design.

Pipal recently served as senior project manager with Carrier Johnson + Culture in Orange County where he focused on higher education facilities and the design-build delivery process. His experience also includes the role of senior project manager with Carlson Design Construct and project manager and laboratory planner with Erhlich–Rominger. His awards include National Design-Build Project Awards, Educational Facility in 2015 for the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business and in 2012 for the UC Irvine Medical Center Clinical Replacement Laboratory Building.

“The healthcare work done by Taylor Design dovetails well into the science and technology markets where understanding the complexity of the buildings and their systems is critical,” Pipal added, “Moreover, there is a great synergy, as all of these disciplines are further blending. Many universities are looking for hands-on teaching labs on campus to help increase the number of graduating scientists.”

Pipal holds a Masters of Architecture and bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
